SMS Self-Audit Re-Qualification
Regulations in Alberta require that industrial railway employees performing SMS Self-Audits be requalified once every three years.
This course addresses the knowledge of the participant by means of a review of the applicable subject matter and a test. A certificate of completion will be issued upon successful completion of the course. It is still incumbent upon the employees’ company to declare whether the person is qualified to perform the work.
Note: Remember to download the latest version of the SMS audit protocols from the Alberta Transportation website before each SMS audit you do.
Course Details
The requalification training consists of four lessons and a final test:
Lesson 1 – Introduction to the Safety Management System.
Lesson 2 – Alberta Industrial Railway Regulations.
Lesson 3 – The Audit Process.
Lessons 4 – SMS Self-Audit Protocols.
To successfully complete the course you must pass the final test with a score of 80%. You may take the test twice if necessary.
There are review quizzes for each lesson to help confirm understanding of the material. It is helpful if you have your training manual on hand for reference.
