Railway Operations Live

Rail Ops Live in Ottawa Ontario

Railway Operations Live is an interactive 2-1/2 day course that offers a glimpse into a day in the life of a railway crew member. It covers topics that include: safety standards, applying the Canadian Railway Operating Rules (CROR), track inspection and maintenance, train makeup and inspections, locomotive operation, and switching demonstrations. This is an introductory program in Canadian railway operations designed and delivered for the Railway Association of Canada (RAC) by the Canadian Heartland Training Railway Services.

Participants will have the opportunity to safely switch cars and build a train as part of the hands on training experience at a real railway environment. Participants will also learn about track makeup and perform a track inspection. Instructors are active in the North American railway industry and draw upon years of experience to offer program participants an informative view of the industry.
